It's Monday, what are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? Is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila over at One Persons Journey Through a World of Books.

This month is just flying by so quickly! Not to mention all the other things going on in my personal life. That doesn't leave very much time for completing my challenge as I had hoped. But like they say, you gotta make time!

Reading This Week

So I'm making some pretty good progress with my Halloween Challenge, at least I'd like to think so! Haha. Of all the books I've read so far I think Suspicion was my favorite even if the ending was super freakin iffy and sort of made no sense at all. I actually finished The Vines this morning and while it was interesting in terms of the history I wasn't too impressed with the characters.

I've been meaning to read Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea for awhile now and I keep putting it off so I figured now or never, basically. There are still a few books I was hoping to finish before October ends but I'm not sure how that's going to work out since it's already the 27th, I may continue on into next month... if I can find time between homework, work and NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo being the more demanding of them all lol!

It's Monday, what are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at One Persons Journey Through a World of Books.

Oh. Hello there! Remember me? I took a bit of a break from reading because... well life. And every time I would get in bed I was more absorbed into surfing Pinterest and going to sleep than reading. I know, bad reader! Bad bad reader! But I will admit I do miss the world of fiction and the sanctification of finishing a book (or two or three) in a day or week and well... my NetGalley pile is not getting any smaller so.... let's do something about that shall we?

What I Read Last Week

What I'm Reading This Week

So... I was kinda disappointed that the preview scene I saw of The Giver (the one with Taylor Swift) was actually NOT in the book, I get it's an adaptation and well they had to showcase it somehow. But I still enjoyed the book. The other two were... meh. I don't want to talk too much about them since I will be reviewing them soon.... which reminds me I have to edit and post my vlog review of Some Quiet Place.

Yes, I'm reading 4 books this week! Maybe. Maybe 5. Or 4. I haven't decided. I'm kinda obsessed with Mindy Kaling since I marathoned The Mindy Project. Seriously obsessed so this is an elibrary borrow which means I have 6 days left to finish it lol. The last two are NetGalley books. I'm not sure how I feel about The Winter People I mean it's getting interesting but it just seems so jumbled at the same time. And The Walls Around Us I basically can only read in the morning. Like it's not SUPER creepy, I'm just being a wuss. I might give up home on If I Stay I was hoping to read through it (finally, it's literally been on my Kindle TBR for 4 years) and watch the movie cause the trailer looked epic but the writing style doesn't click with me. I don't know what's going on, when a flashback is going to happen or anything. If anything I might just finish it for the sake of saying I did. I also snatched up Insurgent from the elibrary before anyone else could lol. So I guess I'm going to continue the Divergent series after all!

It's Monday, what are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at One Persons Journey Through a World of Books.

Wow, it's been awhile since I've done one of these right? It's been awhile since I've been here in general. Things have been crazy and they're about to get crazier but I'll do my best to stay around. I've got lots of books to talk about!

What I Read Last Week

What I'm Reading This Week

So after five years I've given in and started reading The Mortal Instruments series and while it's not the best thing I've ever read I see why people fan over it. I went through the entire second book in four hours. Insane. I never in my life thought I'd even make it through one of Cassandra's books. They're so huge. And intimidating. But the last book in The Mortal Instruments series comes out this year so I've got to catch up. And on top of that there's The Infernal Devices series too. And the two spin off's coming out next year. And even though I still have a few more books with Jace, Luke and Clary I'm getting sadder and sadder that I'm inching my way away from them with every book I finish. Does anyone else feel like that?

I've been slacking on my for review books. Slacking hard. It's always frustrating walking into B&N and seeing several books you were suppose to review already released and sitting pretty on a shelf. Really makes you feel like a failure lol. Plus I need a little break away from the paranormal lives right now. Just a little tiny break.

Waiting on Wednesday | Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Release Date: June 3rd, 2014 from HarperTeen

S u m m a r y :

I want someone who will talk to me honestly about things. You're the only person who ever has. Maybe you don't know this, but when you're disabled almost no one tells you the truth. They feel too awkward because the truth seems too sad, I guess. You were very brave to walk up to the crippled girl and say, essentially, wipe that sunny expression off your face and look at reality. That's what I want you to do next year. Tell me the truth. That's all.

Amy and Matthew didn't know each other, really. They weren't friends. Matthew remembered her, sure, but he remembered a lot of people from elementary school that he wasn't friends with now.

Matthew never planned to tell Amy what he thought of her cheerful facade, but after he does, Amy realizes she needs someone like him in her life.

As they begin to spend more time with each other, Amy learns that Matthew has his own secrets and she decides to try to help him in the same way he's helped her. And when what started out as a friendship turns into something neither of them expected, they realize that they tell each other everything—except the one thing that matters most.

Reason for waiting:
That's a pretty vague summary, right? But it sounds so interesting! And I love the cover. Really excited to see what this one's about!

Waiting on Wednesday | It felt Like A Kiss by Sarra Manning

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Release Date: February 13th 2014 from Corgi

S u m m a r y :

Meet Ellie Cohen, one of the most perfect girls in London.

Ellie manages a swank Mayfair gallery, but it’s her life that’s a real work of art. Great job, really good hair, loyal friends, loving family. It’s only her succession of lame duck boyfriends that ruin the picture.

Oh, and the world-famous rock-star father she’s never met, who won’t even acknowledge her existence.

Then Ellie’s perfect life is smashed to pieces when her secret is sold to the highest bidder and her name, face (and pictures of her bottom) are splashed across the tabloids. Suddenly everyone thinks she’s a gold-digging, sex-crazy, famewhore.

Enter David Gold. Charming and handsome David Gold. On paper he’s even more perfect than Ellie, if only he wasn’t her father’s ruthlessly ambitious lawyer whose job is to manage the crisis – and her. He certainly doesn’t think that Ellie’s the innocent party and she doesn’t trust him at all. So why is it that every time they’re alone together, damage limitation is the last thing on their minds?

Reason for waiting:
I'm a sucker for chick lit based in London and for books with pretty colorful covers! This sounds so good and I'm so sad that it's an international title that I don't know how to get a hold of! Ah, I guess I'll be refreshing BookDepo until it's in stock.

It's Monday, what are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey.

What I read last week

  • Intertwined (Intertwined #1) by Gina Showalter
  • Hysteria by Megan Miranda

What I'm reading this week

  • Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke
  • Broken by C.J. Lyons
  • Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green & David Levithan

I finished two of the four I was aiming for this passed week... I don't think I'll be finishing The Coldest Girl in Coldtown tihs month. Poohie. There were a bunch of books I was hoping to finish this month since it would be "within theme". However since November is approching and I'll be NaNoWriMo-ing, I don't really know what to read this month! Haha! I guess I could read my Christmas books early, but would that kill the fun? I'll start off with some contemp then seen how I feel as the month goes on. Hopefully my reading won't decline with everything else going on in November!

I am going to focus on Will Grayson, Will Grayson since my friend wanted me to read it badly enough he got it for me. I know I'm late to the Will Grayson train but we'll see! Also I'm on a blog tour for Broken so you know, gotta focus on that too :P

It's Monday, what are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey and this is actually two weeks worth of finished reading. But still, good pace right?!

What I read last week

  • The Nightmare Affair (The Arkwell Academy #1) by Mindee Arnett

  • Intertwined (Intertwined #1) by Gina Showalter
  • Hysteria by Megan Miranda
  • The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
  • Between The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (Between #1) by April Genevieve Tucholke

Whoot! For finishing the two books I had planned to finish. But now that we're in the last week and a half of October I'm hoping to finish these last four books. The rest of my TBR is going to have to wait until next month. Boooo.

I've started Intertwined finally! It's only been on my TBR for the last four years LOL! So far it's interesting. Hysteria is looking like it might be a DNF... we shall see....

Waiting on Wednesday | Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Release Date: April 1st 2014 from HarperTeen

S u m m a r y :
I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.
But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado—taking you with it—you have no choice but to go along, you know?

Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little blue birds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still the yellow brick road, though—but even that's crumbling.
What happened?
Dorothy. They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.

My name is Amy Gumm—and I'm the other girl from Kansas.
I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.
I've been trained to fight.
And I have a mission:
Remove the Tin Woodman's heart.
Steal the Scarecrow's brain.
Take the Lion's courage.
Then and only then—Dorothy must die!
 via Goodreads ]

Reason for waiting:
If you know me AT ALL you know I don't have to say anything about why I chose this title for Waiting on Wednesday. YA hasn't seen a Wizard of Oz retelling in... well, ever so this is pretty exciting! I'm totally excited for this to release!

It's Monday, what are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey and this is actually two weeks worth of finished reading. But still, good pace right?!

What I read last week

  • Untold (The Lynburn Legacy #2) by Sarah Rees Brennan
  • The Night I Lost You (The Lynburn Legacy #1.5) by Sarah Rees Brennan
  • School Spirits by Rachel Hawkins
  • Some Quiet Place by Kelsey Sutton
  • A Little Too Far (A Little Too Far #1) by Lisa Desrochers
  • One Night with her Best Friend by Noelle Adams

What I'm reading this week

  • The Nightmare Affair (The Arkwell Academy #1) by Mindee Arnett
  • After Eden by Helen Douglas

I read Some Quiet Place at a much slower pace than normal for some reason. The concept is so interesting and meeting all these different emotions is also interesting. And it was just ahhh. I loved it! But I've never really taken my time absorbing a book like that in a really long time!

A Little Too Far is not even on my Halloween challenge list lol! Whoops, don't know how that happened!

It's Monday, what are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey and I have not done this feature since 2010, wow! That's crazy!

    What I read last week

    • None :(

    What I'm reading this week

    • The Crimson Thread: A Retelling of Rumpelstiltskin by Suzanne Weyn
    • The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider
    • Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn
    • Just One Day by Gayle Forman

I slacked off a bit mid month so I'm pretty disappointed in that. I was off to such a good start too, argh! I'm hoping I'll have plenty of good titles to rave (or rant) about in my monthly wrap up, but we'll see. We. Shall. See.

It's officially Fall and I am *so* excited even if it doesn't feel any cooler here in Florida. Which sucks, Fall is my favorite season *sigh*. Either way, I'm super excited summer is suppose to be over. Bring on the creepy Halloween titles and the caramel apples!

    Friday Find | WishingWellArt

Friday Find is a weekly feature where I highlight an interesting article or an interesting find I've come across on the web.

This week I'm highlighting a shop on Etsy that I've come across randomly. I don't even remember what I was searching when I found this. Fall stuff maybe? Either way, I'm glad I stumbled on it!

How cool is that sugar cube?!  WishingWellArt doesn't offer too much information on the shop or anything but check out this really cool Pumpkin shaped sugar cute that's Pumpkin Pie Spice flavored! Perfect for your favorite Fall tea. Or these Christmas Tree shaped sugar cubes with edible glitter stars!

I've never had festive sugar cubes but they're priced pretty affordable for the amount you're given. Now to just talk hubby into thinking it's a good idea too :)

Media Monday | NSYNC reunion via VMA's 2013

Media Monday is a weekly feature I did on my other bookish blog so I figured why not transfer that over here? A lot of the times I'll feature a music video, a song I've been really into or just a random clip I found on YouTube that I really want to share. If you find anything around the web that would fit this feature please feel free to leave it in the comments section below!

    ~*~

So who missed the VMA's last night? I hope I wasn't the only one! The cable isn't configured in my new place yet so, that sucks. I did search like crazy for the *NSYNC reuion and found it. All of it's one minute and thirty freakin seconds. What the heck? The most talked about moment on the VMA's and that's it?! I read an article about how "*NSYNC's brief come back is tearin' up fans hearts" and I honestly could not had put it in better words.

    So here it is!

As any other hardcore *NSYNC fan (I grew up in love with them and 98* in middle/high school), I was screaming "OMGOMGOMG" the whole performance and when it was over I felt like it left a lot of be desired.

However, I'm not here to discuss pop culture or music on this blog but I mean, I'm just sayin'. One can only hope that this is the beginning of something we're all hoping will happen.

But in reality, this is not the generation of boy bands anymore. Sadly.
